About ASHLEY YEO

Ashley graduated from the University of Leeds in 2017 and was called to the Bar in 2019. She also holds a Diploma in Law and Management from Temasek Polytechnic. Ashley joined Peter Low Chambers LLC in late 2019, and has been actively involved in the firm’s civil, criminal, commercial and complex matrimonial litigation cases, as well as public interest litigation cases. Ashley has assisted in matters concerning probate and estate administration, as well as applications under the Mental Capacity Act.

In the Singapore Bar Examinations 2019, Ashley was placed among the top 26 candidates out of 697 candidates that took the Part B Examinations. She was also awarded the Singapore Institute of Legal Education Prize for Best Candidate in Advanced Corporate Practice. Whilst at university, Ashley also volunteered with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme and Legal Aid Bureau. She is presently a Criminal Legal Aid Scheme volunteer.

Ashley’s notable cases include:

Public Interest Litigation

• • Acting for the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council in arbitration proceedings against its former Managing Agent.
  • Acted in a class action for over 240 parents who stored cord blood units with public-listed private cord blood bank Cordlife Group Limited.
  • Acted for a foreign domestic worker, Ms Parti Liyani, in disciplinary proceedings against two Deputy Public Prosecutors (2021).

Criminal Defence

• • Acting for an MAS-licensed fund manager in multiple contentious lawsuits in the High court of Singapore worth over $5 million
  • Defended the accused person in the so-called “Yishun fatal assault” case (2020).
  • Acted in criminal trials and appeals involving charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust, road traffic offences, impersonating a public servant, and other offences.

Civil & Commercial Litigation

• • Acting for a former chairman of KSP Indosurya in a contractual dispute in the High Court (2021 to 2022).

Matrimonial Litigation

• • Acted for a wife in heavily contested divorce proceedings, involving cross-applications for interim care and control, interim maintenance, defending several committal applications and global asset tracing in respect of asset division. Successfully obtained a settlement in excess of $4 million. Also acted in contested cross-applications for Personal Protection Orders for the Wife and children of the marriage and contested cross-applications under the Protection of Harassment Act for the same matter. (2019 to 2021)
  • Assisting in contested and uncontested matrimonial proceedings for private clients, including proceedings with cross-border elements.
